Scientist inspires young minds at Stanmore College
A SENIOR scientist spoke to interested students at Stanmore College about a career in research.
Andy Shore spoke to medical science students at the college about his work in pathology and working as part of a medical team.
Mr Shore is a senior biomedical scientist at the Queen Elizabeth II hospital in Welwyn Garden City where he works primarily in histology, the study of cells and tissue.
Students listened to detailed information about how biomedical scientists work closely with the doctors to diagnose diseases and eventually find a cure.
Attracta Rafter, who works at the college, said: "Students who had expressed an interest in this field prior to Andy's talk were keener than ever by the time he left. It was clear from student feedback after the event that they had found it most engaging and talks like this really impact on their attitude to learning and choosing a career path."
