Stanmore pupils learn about stars with portable planetarium
STUDENTS turned stargazers when the night sky was recreated for them in their very own school hall.
Pupils in years one to six at Peterborough and St Margaret's School in Common Road, Stanmore, were given a talk about the universe by staff from The Learning Dome, a touring portable planetarium, on Monday, January 30.
Images of the galaxy were projected onto the curved interior roof while experts explained what they were looking at are actually millions of miles away.
Janet Mote, headteacher of
the junior school, said: "It was
an awesome and wonderful experience for the girls. They thoroughly enjoyed what they
saw and the facts they learned
took on a new dimension."
