The Elms Tennis Club wins permission for floodlights
COACHING during winter evenings will now be a possibility after a Stanmore tennis club won permission to build floodlights.
Six lights will be placed around the middle two of the four courts at The Elms Tennis Club in Pynnacles Close to enable practise between mid-October and April between 5pm and 9pm.
Managing director Barbara Moss said: "The Elms Tennis Club in Stanmore is delighted to have been granted planning permission for the installation of floodlights.
"These floodlights will help to improve local community cohesion, enabling both adults and children to continue playing tennis during the darker evenings."
Harrow Council's planning committee approved the application on Wednesday (Feb 9) and installation will take place during the summer.
The club reduced the number of lights to six after a scheme involving eight was refused permission in March 2010 due to the light pollution and the disturbance to residents in neighbouring Ray Court.
