Opponents of proposed 324 bus route to hold public meeting

Posted by Ian Proctor on May 11, 09 01:24 PM in

RESIDENTS who oppose the proposed 324 bus route between Stanmore and Brent Cross are holding a public meeting on Sunday.
They believe that it would be unsafe for buses to use Old Church Lane and Abercorn Road - streets that would be served by public transport for the first time if the new route is introduced by Transport for London.
Those campaigners, including Councillor Manji Kara (Con), will be meeting at 11am at Bernays Memorial Hall, The Broadway, Stanmore.

We'd like to hear from you.

What a bunch of NIMBYists! (Not in my back yard)We are being encouraged to do our bit by being green and wider public transport links is the way forward. There are only two things wrong with this route: The gratuitous congested parking around Stanburn School and its environs especially on the roundabout - a supposed community school so the pupils should be walking. The inconsiderate parking at the Baptist Church by so called "stewards of God's creation". The Councillors are "jumping on the bus" sorry "off the bus" purely because it is a cheap way of securing prospective votes.

It is really an inclusive time to hold a residents meeting at 11:00 on a Sunday when some people are in Church. But then I forgot it is a minority interest in this increasingly secular nation of ours. . .

This bus route is a good idea and would take the pressure off the 142 route and provide residents and visitors with better and frequent public transport.

It would be a good idea to trial the route for a year and may convince the objectors to the route of it's benefits of serving the Stanmore community as a whole!
