Met Police wants new Safer Neighbourhood Team base in Stanmore

Posted by Ian Proctor on Jan 2, 09 09:41 AM in Crime

Stanmore Park's Safer Neighbourhood Team could have a permanent base in the town after the Metropolitan Police applied to convert a shop into a mini HQ.

The team, currently comprising one sergeant, two constables and four PCSOs (police community support officers), has to conduct patrols from Wealdstone Police Station, which lies almost 1 1/2 miles from the ward it watches over.

Members lose time by having to journey across the borough to Stanmore to walk the beat, carry out operations and meet residents.

But the force has submitted a planning application to Harrow Council to change the ground and lower ground floors of Unit 3, 30 Church Road, Stanmore - a hairdressers - into an office base that would place the SNT at the heart of the community.

We'd like to hear from you.

This is excellent news as far as the local residents are concerned and we hope the plan goes through, as Police response has been very slow in case of need.
