Students hit the streets to raise money for cancer charity
STUDENTS pounded the pavement to raise funds for a teenage cancer charity.
More than 1,300 students from Stanmore College darted through Whitchurchplaying fields, in Wemborough Road, to earn money for their nominated charity, The Teenage Cancer Trust.
The pupils were given a set amount of time to complete the circuit on September 19.
Participants were given the option of running or walking and even the college's principal Jacqui Mace joined in the event, which was opened by the Mayor of Harrow Councillor John Nickolay and the Mayoress Councillor Joyce Nickolay.
Sixth-form director Mary McHugh, who organised the event, said: "The dayw as supported enthusiastically by all students and everyone willingly goti nvolved, either by running or walking the circuit.
"In addition to the students of Stanmore College contributing positively totheir local community through this event, it also encouraged them to stay fit and healthy.
"Students have raised £2,000 for the charity this year."
