Former head of comedy at the BBC and ex-Stanburn Primary School pupil Geoffrey Perkins died on Friday (29) in a road accident in London.

The 55-year-old father-of-two was responsible for producing a wealth of comedy programmes including The Fast Show, Father Ted, The Catherine Tate Show and My Family.

Born in Bushey, in Hertfordshire, he attended Stanburn Primary School in Abercorn Road, Stanmore before going onto Harrow County - which subsequently became Harrow High.

The Oxford graduate spent eight years at independent production company Hat Trick Productions before being appointed as Head of Comedy at BBC in May 1995.

On leaving there in 2001 he took the role as an executive producer with Tiger Aspect Productions.

His most recent projects have included ITV's Benidorm and new series Harry and Paul (with Harry Enfield and Paul Whitehouse) which is due to start on Friday (05).

He is survived by his wife Lisa and their children Charlotte and Arthur.
