A man selling fake razor blades over the internet has been fined more than £4,500.

Kevin Kirk Johns, of Old Church Lane, Stanmore, pleaded guilty to selling the counterfeit products at Harrow Magistrates Court, in Rosslyn Crescent, on September 3.

Paypal, an online banking company used by Johns, showed he made more than £11,000 by selling the grooming products he had imported from China.

The businessman continued to sell the blades through his website Razorsuk.com even after customers informed him they were counterfeit.

The 31-year-old was caught out when Brent and Harrow Trading Standards received a tip-off from Proctor & Gamble investigators about the firm.

A trading standards officer then put in an order for a two packs of Gillette blades, which were later discovered to be counterfeit in October 2007.

Police officers and trading standards officials raided the home he shared with his partner and seized more than 140 packs of counterfeit razor blades, two laptops and business papers in January.

The defendant was fined £3,000 and ordered to pay court costs of £1,532 to the Brent and Harrow Trading Standards.
