Gunman spared jail

Posted by Tom Parnell on Sep 4, 08 04:54 PM in Crime

A young father from Edgware avoided jail today despite brandishing a semi-automatic gun in a busy high street.

Ryan Johnson, 21, was caught on CCTV, from a nearby bus, waving the gun around after a fight broke out in Burnt Oak Broadway.

Johnson, who has a six-month-old baby, was in his father's silver Audi when a shot was fired from inside the car.

After fleeing the scene, Johnson, of Chestnut Close, threw the loaded gun in a dustbin - but the weapon has not since been recovered.

Having pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm, Johnson received a 50 week custodial sentence suspended for two years - with a supervision order for a year.
